After much anticipation, Hitman: World of Assassination is finally arriving on PlayStation VR2 this March. While the series previously ventured into VR on Meta Quest and the original PSVR, it didn’t gain as much traction as its standard versions. However, expectations for the PSVR2 release have been higher due to the improved hardware and IO Interactive's extended development time. Fans won't have to wait much longer, as the game is set to launch soon.
Despite releasing as a rebranded trilogy in 2023, World of Assassination has had a strong start to 2025. In January, the game surpassed 75 million players, making it one of IO Interactive’s most successful titles. The developers have continued supporting the game with fresh content, such as the limited-time Jean-Claude Van Damme target event. The upcoming PSVR2 release further highlights IO Interactive’s commitment to keeping the game engaging for players.
During the March 11 VR Games Showcase, IO Interactive confirmed that the PSVR2 version will launch on March 27. Originally planned for December 2024, the release was pushed back to ensure a better experience. The latest trailer showcases VR-specific mechanics, including full ambidexterity, adaptive trigger support, and interactive environments. Players who own Hitman: World of Assassination on PS5 can upgrade to the VR version for $9.99, while a standalone Part One edition, featuring Hitman 1 maps, will be available for $39.99.
