Frostpunk 2 developer 11 Bit Studios has confirmed that the game's PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions will launch in Summer 2025. Initially planned for a multi-platform release in 2024, the city-builder's console ports were delayed before the PC version's debut in September 2024, where it received largely positive reviews.
The updated roadmap for Frostpunk 2 outlines its major upcoming content, including the Spectrum DLC arriving in Autumn 2025, followed by the Aurora expansion and an unnamed third DLC in 2026. Additionally, a significant content update adjusting city management mechanics will be released for free on May 8, 2025. The developers also hinted at important developments in Spring 2025, particularly around April 24, marking the seventh anniversary of the original Frostpunk.
While Frostpunk 2 quickly recouped its development costs within three days of launch, 11 Bit Studios faced setbacks, including the cancellation of Project 8, a console-oriented title in development for six years. Despite this, the studio remains focused on expanding Frostpunk 2 with its upcoming DLCs and is preparing for the release of its next major project, The Alters, in hopes of a strong performance in 2025.
