Pokemon GO Unveils Major Update to Gameplay
Published 24 Jan 2025
Niantic has announced a significant update to Pokémon GO, addressing long-standing community feedback by increasing the frequency of wild spawns. This change aims to make Pokémon appear more often in all areas, including rural, suburban, and densely populated regions. The update is set to roll out ahead of the Pokémon GO Tour: Unova event, though an exact release date has not yet been confirmed.

In addition to boosting wild encounters, Niantic revealed a visual update to the in-game Pokédex. This new design will allow players to easily track their Pokémon collection by region, showcasing which creatures have been captured and which are still missing. This revamped Pokédex was first teased in a trailer for the Dual Destiny season, and it promises to enhance the user experience for collectors and completionists.

The increased spawn rates come at an exciting time for Pokémon GO players, with several events on the horizon. These include the ongoing debut of Dynamax Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres, available until February, as well as the Lunar New Year event from January 29 to February 2. Additional February events, such as Small Yet Strong, Beloved Buddies, and Community Day, have also been confirmed, keeping fans engaged with fresh content.
