Fortnite Players Upset Over New Quest
Published 25 Jul 2024
Fortnite players are expressing dissatisfaction with the new set of quests released by Epic Games as part of the Summer Road Trip event, which requires players to be in a party to earn rewards. The quest mandates earning XP while in a party, effectively locking out solo players who have no alternative way to complete it. This requirement has sparked frustration among those who prefer to play alone or don't have friends available to team up with in the game.

The current Fortnite season has been exciting, featuring numerous collaborations, including unexpected partnerships with Fallout and Pirates of the Caribbean, offering players exciting rewards. Despite these engaging crossovers, the Summer Road Trip event has faced criticism due to its party-based quest requirement. A post on the Fortnite subreddit by user hwanlv points out that players must be in a party to earn 60,000 XP across various game modes, a challenging task for solo players.

There is a workaround for solo players using Fortnite's split screen feature, but this is only available on PlayStation and Xbox. Other methods, like using a virtual machine, are more complicated. The Team Fill option doesn't work for this quest, as players must team up with friends to earn the 30,000 XP reward. While just pairing with one friend suffices, many solo players in the comments expressed difficulty completing the challenge due to not having friends who play Fortnite, highlighting the quest's exclusionary nature.
